Tattoo aftercare

Help your tattoo heal properly.

General aftercare guidance for clients. Richard’s instructions for your individual tattoo should always take priority.

Follow the artist’s instructions

Richard’s specific instructions for your tattoo and covering take priority over general online advice.

Remove the covering as advised

The timing depends on the type of covering used. Do not remove it earlier than instructed.

Wash gently

Use clean hands, lukewarm water and a mild fragrance-free cleanser. Do not scrub or soak the tattoo.

Pat dry

Use clean paper towel or allow the tattoo to air dry. Avoid rubbing it with a bath towel.

Apply a thin layer

Use only the aftercare product recommended by the studio, and avoid applying a thick layer.

Avoid soaking and sun

Avoid swimming, baths, direct sun and unnecessary friction while the tattoo heals.

Do not pick

Flaking and mild itching can be normal. Do not scratch, peel or pick at the healing skin.

Contact the studio with concerns

Seek advice if you are unsure about the healing process. Seek medical care promptly for signs of infection or a serious reaction.
